The coffee here is so flavoursome and delicious, I love it! Chocolatey and nutty, with a kick to it. I wonder if they snuck any cocoa in there?
You'd come here mainly for take-aways, but there's a snug seat hidden at the back if you like lounging with your latte. I do. Especially when I can leaf through pages of TimeOut and Lucky Peach. -

Despite being a short walk from my hotel it took my most of the time I was in Sydney to actually stop here and grab a coffee. Basically it is a little hole-in-the-wall cafe that serves coffee to passer-bys (as well as having some seating in the rather small area inside. They also have a small table outside, but it is more of a makeshift affair than anything else. Anyway, as I suggested, it is basically a coffee pit stop, and it seems that lots of people make a habit of grabbing a coffee as they walk past here in the morning. The coffee itself wasn't all that bad, but not hugely fantastic, and as is not surprising, it was also Sydney prices.

One of the best avo toasts in surry hills. Love love love it.
They put some sort of chimichurri sauce on top, really yummy.
It gets quite busy in the morning so get there early. There are not many seats inside but Surry hills locals get theirs for take away to their hipster offices. -

Gotta thank Andrew O for this one ... O Andrew O ... what have you unleashed? I even risked a parking fine for a taste of this little beauty. This area of Surry Hills has really come of age these last few years ... no young kids in sight flashing their torches into cars looking for something to tax - oblivious to the fact the owners are actually sitting in them ... but thats another story for another time.
Popped in for a ristretto but dayam should have ordered a long black - Mr Barista pulled a solid half shot. This is a sweet little spot and they clearly cater for 'to go' rather than sit in so this place is perfect if you're sweeping through the area.
Honestly, I would love to have given this one 5 stars, but there was just something holding me back .. it wasn't the coffee, it wasn't the location or the size of this cafe, I'd have to say it was the barista himself - a little too cold for my liking? Just got a weird vibe off him thats all ... perhaps an off day? We're all entitled to it !!! -

Part of a stable of cafes (not thinking Starbucks here - just google Ben Stronach) and using Little Marionette beans, Corduroy makes fantastic coffee.
Brilliant little cafe space with friendly people. The whole area is taking off - Its the surprise factor as much as anything else. Small businesses seem to spring out of the ground and they are all craft / artisan / quality minded.
Its like choosing between a can of VB and a specially craft brewed India Pale Ale like Feral Brewery's Hop Hog. Each is good but one is much better.
These places show they love what they are doing and they are determined to be special - and they are.
- here endeth today's sermon.
PS the back door in this cafe is a secret entrance to Tio's, Watched a delivery of molto Tequila go through it and couldn't restrain my curiosity. Timing was a bit out - I now know Tio's is not open at 4pm. Man did I get a death stare when I popped my head around the corner, looked like a tattoo appreciation meeting.
